NUR 115 - Nutritional Concepts for Health

This course provides a solid foundation in the basic principles and concepts of good nutrition and its relationship to the health of people of all ages. The student studies wellness, personal, and community nutrition as well as the science of man’s food requirements, nutritional value of foods, specific nutrient requirements. The course focuses on preventative nutrition while meeting the nutritional needs of families, food fads, and consideration for cultural and religious dietary patterns. Students explore interactions of complementary and alternative medicines (natural herbs), dietary supplements, and drugs as they pertain to a person’s nutritional health.
