SOC.201 - Intro to Anthropology

The goal of this course is to introduce the study of general anthropology to students who have little acquaintance with the subject. This course will provide the student with knowledge of anthropology and how anthropology contributes to the scientific understanding of people. This course is of interest to the social science major as well as those people who are looking for an elective course. Some of the topics to be covered include human and primate evolution,the emergence of human culture, and the rise of urban society, the evolution of language, kinship and descent, and cultural diversity within the modern world. 3.03.0 Applicable toward graduation at Sandburg where program structure permits: Degree or Certificate —AA, AS, AFA, AAS, AGE, and Certificates where applicable General Education — Social Science, Human Relations
