EDU 101 - Introduction to Education

This course provides an orientation to the teaching profession. It is designed for those who are considering a career in education. Among the topics studied are Motives for Teaching, Social Problems and Tension Points in Schools, Curriculum, Technology, Legal and Ethical Issues, and Philosophical Foundations. In addition, there is a minimum of 32 hours required for the field experience component. One hour of the four-hour credit is field experience. The field experience component includes meeting two times a week as a cohort. This group benefits from discussion, reading, and exchange of ideas from the field experience
