ENG 100 - Academic Writing Conventions
Upon successful completion of this course, the student shall be able to demonstrate the following skills: A. Recognize grammar vocabulary and apply vocabulary to analyze and edit sentences in published, peer, and own writing. B. Create a variety of sentence styles with correct grammar. C. Explore writing conventions or academic writing relating to structure, clarity, format, and style. D. Apply MLA and APA styles in writing. E. Demonstrate ability to use punctuation correctly.
Prerequisites: Concurrent enrollment in ENG 101 AND appropriate placement score or instructor’s consent. English 100 will provide students with the skills necessary for academic writing. The course may also be used by students needing a review for academic writing. The course will focus on grammar, MLA and APA format, and other conventions of academic writing.
