HIM 245 - Medical Scribe Procedures
Upon successful completion of this course, the student shall be able to demonstrate the following skills: A. Demonstrate professionalism including knowledge of cultural competence, self-care and communication skills including basic computer literacy. B. Demonstrate proficiency in medical documentation in an office, outpatient or inpatient hospital setting. C. Utilize the basic concepts of medical billing and coding as they relate to the medical scribe. D. Demonstrate an understanding of the concept of a medical scribe and apply the basic knowledge and skills required to be successful in the industry. E. Demonstrate an understanding of medical scenarios, diseases, processes, medical terminology, and anatomy and physiology in a clinical setting.
Prerequisites: HIM 200 and HIM 252 Medical scribes are individuals trained in medical documentation who assist a physician. This course will provide students with an understanding of the daily procedures performed by a medical scribe.
