Prerequisite: JOUR 222 ā€œCā€ or better JOUR 225 provides experience in more difficult assignments and stories. It includes principles and practices of developing interpretative articles, features, and editorials for the news media.
Materials: Textbook information is available at http://www.bhc.edu/on-campus/bookstore/ You will need to know the BHC course number, e.g., BL 201, and the section number.
Upon successful completion of this course, the student shall be able to demonstrate the following skills: A. Demonstrate an understanding of accuracy, attribution, and objectivity in journalistic writing. B. Produce stories under deadline conditions. C. Practice how to identify, research, and contact appropriate sources. D. Evaluate sources from where news content is found. E. Develop and demonstrate skills in producing, writing, and editing stores on a multi-media level (i.e. photography, broadcast radio, print, and online). F. Create, develop, and maintain an online media presence through blogging.
