BUSN 241 - Introduction to Supply Chain Management
This course will give students an overview of the field of logistics, as well as information and skills specific to computerized inventory management. Topics include an overview of supply chain management and related terminology, warehouse amd transportation operations, typical warehouse management software, and warehousing technologies - including radio frequency and basic accounting and economic principles.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student shall be able to: A. Explain the growth and the importance of supply chain logistics management in creating a competitive 21-century usiness environment. B. Explain the importance of information technology as it relates to the primary functions of supply chain logistics management, inventory, transportation infrastructure, transportation operations, warehousing, packaging and material handling and operations. C. Describe the key aspects of demand (customer) managment and the importance of transportation, distribution and packaging and labeling in meeting customer satisfaction. D. Describe the key similarities and differences in supply chain logistics management design for domestic business operations verses global economy operations. E. Describe the significance of supply chain logistics management within an organizational structure and the various implications. F. Describe the key elements of logistic control in order to evaluate logistical effectiveness.
