JOUR 222 - Beginning Reporting
Prerequisites: ENG 101 ā€œCā€ or better or instructor consent. JOUR 222 is an instruction in the mechanics of reporting and writing a news story.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student shall be able to: A. Apply proper grammar, spelling, and sentence structure to write assignments. B. Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of accuracy, attribution and objectivity in journalistic writing. C. Be able to produce stories under deadline conditions. D. Explain and apply rules of libel. E. Gather facts and assess their importance. F. Make use of various story structures, including the "inverted pyramid."
