CS 090 - Basic Computer Orientation
Students will explore and develop an understanding of the key components of technology that affect both in-class and online student achievements. The course also facilitates the development of basic proficiency in the use of Canvas, the BHC online learning management system.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student shall be able to demonstrate the following skills: A. Demonstrate the basic skills needed to operate a computer B. Demonstrate proficiency using the most common Canvas tools utilized in most in-class and online courses C. Demonstrate the ability to work in the Windows environment D. Use basic features of file management E. Send and receive email, open attachments, and demonstrate proper email etiquette F. Use basic features of a web browser G. Explain the purpose of Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint H. Use basic features and formatting tools to create and modify a Word document I. Interact with academic online resources available through the BHC website, Library, Bookstore, Testing Center, Enrollment Services, Advising, Tutoring Center, and Career Services J. Design strategies for success as an online learner through identification of best practices
