SOCI 234 - Gender and Society

This course provides an overview of sociological perspectives on gender as a basis of social stratification, gender role acquisition, and individual and social consequences of changing social definitions of gender roles. The course examines gender in contemporary society as well as genderbased inequalities. The course focuses on gender and its intersections with race, class, and sexuality and the impact of various social institutions on gender and gendered inequality.
