ENG 214 - American Literature II
Upon successful completion of this course, the student shall be able to: A. Identify and analyze the myths of American culture that inform its literature. B. Identify and describe major American writers and their work. C. Identify and describe influences on literature of major cultural events from the post Civil War period to the present. D. Interpret and explain major literary movements as they are related to social and political contexts. E. Identify and apply literary techniques.

Prerequisite: ENG 101 "C" or better. ENG 214 is a survey of representative works illustrating the development of American Literature from the Civil War to the present with an emphasis on major literary movements understood in relation to their intellectual, social, and political contexts.
