Upon successful completion of this course, the student shall be able to demonstrate the following skills: A. Trace the main stages in the evolution of cinema as an art form B. Demonstrate an understanding of and an application of the principles of pictorial continuity C. Identify some of the main practical, cultural, and creative considerations which shape film D. Analyze film in a critical manner E. Distinguish among film genres F. Explain the interdependence of film art and technology G. Identify some of the key persons and films which contributed to the developing art of the film H. Apply appropriate critical standards and criteria to evaluate films from different historical periods and movements in both American and international film making
