An earth system science approach will be used to study the flow and transformation of water and energy; the physical and chemical properties of sea water; the patterns of ocean circulation; the marine ecosystem; and the interaction between the ocean and the hydrosphere atmosphere, geosphere and biosphere. Emphasis will be placed on environmental issues, conservation and wise management of costal and marine resources. Real-world data is used to explore the ocean ecosystem.
