Techniques of effective written communications for business. This will include psychology of communicating with customer service emphasis, focus on international communications, and accuracy and conciseness needed for in-house email.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student shall be able to: A. Format business communications and a business report with current acceptable email formatting, business letter styles, memo styles, and report styles using computer technology. B. Choose the most effective organizational letter pattern for a business letter’s purpose and audience. C. Write, edit, and revise effectively to produce an effective business letter, memo, or email. D. Access the correct English grammar, punctuation, and accepted formats from a business desk reference manual. E. Write business correspondence that would be acceptable and understood easily by people from other cultures. F. Demonstrate skill in writing concise, clear, complete, coherent, and courteous business correspondence to customers, clients, and fellow employees. G. Work as a team to brainstorm and to produce effective and accurate letters showing customer service tone. H. Identify the computer software applications and functions to improve accuracy in spelling and grammar of a business document. I. Analyze and compare letters sent from businesses for content, purpose and techniques used by professional letter writers. J. Evaluate shareware opportunities for writing as a team. K. Demonstrate personal accountability, which may include the quality of online and in-class activity involvement, punctuality, and reliable attendance.
