CIP 182 - Java Script

This course will provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to develop Web applications using Web scripting languages, specifically Java Script this semester. An overview is given on the constructs of the scripting language such as functions, arrays, and control structures. Topics covered include session variables, client-side vs. server-side scripting, DOM and components.
CIP 182 - JavaScript Prerequisites: CIP 170 or CIP 170A and CIP 101 or CIP 104, concurrent enrollment in CIP 185 recommended. This course will provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to develop web applications using client-side scripting with JavaScript. Students will learn code placement, events and event handlers, functions and parameters, attributes, JavaScript objects, methods, and arrays additional topics covered include DOM, validation, objects, cookies and jQuery.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student shall be able to: A. Apply JavaScript programming constructs using variables, arrays, decisions and loops. B. Define, create and use a JavaScript function. C. Use HTML for elements for input including validation of input on form objects (textboxes, radio buttons, checkboxes and selection lists). D. Work with images within JavaScript to develop a rotating banner ad or rollovers. E. Modify styles using JavaScript to create dynamic web pages. F. Use cookies or HTML5 sessionStorage to store user information. G. Explore scripting for mobile tablet. H. Add jQuery library to web pages and use jQuery library functions.
